Inspiring a Culture of Belonging

Social trust

noun

Social trust is a belief in the honesty, integrity, and reliability of others.

Our Why

Stories show us who we are, open doors to experiences beyond our own, and help us navigate the complexity of being human. We are hardwired to search for connection and spot divergence in the stories that are told to us. The best stories do something remarkable: they build empathy, create shared understanding, and reveal the many ways we can live, work, play, and worship alongside one another.

Our How

With social trust and connection in decline, we need more stories that highlight our shared humanity and offer hopeful visions of our future together. We invest in, create, and amplify stories that celebrate the power of human connection, tap into our desire for unity, and inspire people to work and live together across divides.

Explore Our Belonging Work

We support storytelling and narrative change efforts spanning traditional media, TV and film, and other creative media. We value editorial independence, and therefore, the content produced by our grantee partners highlights many divergent viewpoints and beliefs. The strength of our nation comes from both our differences and what we share in common.
